Local translators are often not sufficiently equipped for the task of Bible translation, especially when they work independently. Further training is needed particularly in the area of interpretation or exegetical skills. For this reason courses in Biblical Studies have been designed for national translators and consultants. The following courses are offered:

The study programme “Biblical Studies for Mother Tongue Translators and Consultants” was started in 2003 by Dr. Gerhard Tauberschmidt while working as a translation advisor and consultant with the Summer Institute of Linguistics in Papua New Guinea.
